Firearm Licenses Are Handled Regionally
One thing that surprises many people is that firearm licenses aren’t handled in a single place. The Swedish Police is divided into seven regions, and it’s the region where you’re registered as a resident that handles your application. This means processing times and how cases are assessed can vary across the country – two identical applications can take different amounts of time depending on where they’re submitted.
For you as a hunter, this matters. A well-justified and complete application reduces the risk of time-consuming follow-up requests, regardless of the region. We keep track of where your case belongs and tailor the supporting material accordingly, so you don’t get stuck in unnecessary back-and-forth.
The game conservation fee (the state hunting card), on the other hand, is handled nationally by the Swedish EPA and applies throughout the country – you arrange it the same way no matter which county you hunt in.
